As a general assignment reporter, I cover a wide range of topics and issues across Mississippi. The flexibility of this beat allows me to dive into stories that matter in communities large and small, from breaking news to deeper features. I love the process of writing and reporting, and this role gives me the chance to do both every day while learning from colleagues across the newsroom.
I joined Mississippi Today as a summer intern in May 2024 and was hired full-time as a reporter in August 2024. Before that, I was a student journalist at Southern Miss Student Media, the student-led news outlet of the University of Southern Mississippi. I graduated with honors from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in digital journalism.
As a Mississippi Today journalist, I follow the Society of Professional Journalists' code of ethics, ensuring my reporting is accurate, fair, and independent. I avoid conflicts of interest and decline gifts, money, or favors from those connected to my work. I aim to produce journalism that serves the public good, reflects the truth, and honors the lived experience of Mississippians.
